Playdates are wonderful, the kids have a lot of fun together and grownups can enjoy a break and finally chat. I love to organize playdates for my daughters and our friends. I like to think in special surprises and activities for everybody and I feel the time spent organizing the playdates is by far rewarded when you see kids playing together in a creative and safe environment and a group of relaxed moms/dads.
Playdates become very special when you mix them with a bit of creativity, art, role play, age appropriated games and any new idea which come to your mind. I like theme playdates like Halloween, or Eastern Egg hunt where you use seasonal events to have fun, but I also enjoy hosting doctors conventions or Superhero meetings.
My daughters’ favorite playdate is the tea party. The dynamic of the playdate is quite simple; I set a little table for tea for up to four kids. That includes a toy tea set, some apple juice as tea, some little cookies, pieces of fruit, and napkins. You can add as many details as you imagine to make the tea time come true. I explain the rules of the tea to the kids, we should start at 4 o’clock, they help themselves with the tea and snacks, they are supposed to serve the tea carefully without spilling and they have to take turns.
Believe it or not, with very little help they have the afternoon tea in a playful way and even drink it with their pinkies pointing up. The fun lasts for two or three teapots and after it they are ready to burn the sugar with some more physical activity.
Please, have a tea!
